Bowel Remedy Saves Face!

June 22nd, 2008 by vilaschou

By Terry Price You’ll be simply amazed at the merit a good facial mask has! Most people remember to cleanse and moisturize at bedtime as it is a habit, but they aren’t as diligent when it comes to applying a facial mask. Incredibly relaxing, the facial mask is something that can be applied on a regular basis and you should consider giving it some serious thought. It is very soothing and super good for your skin! Masks come in a wide range of prices and some are as simple and low-cost as a plain tub of yogurt. Facial masks re-hydrate your skin and if you have oily skin, it will tighten up the pores soaking up the excess oil on your face. Facials should be applied once a week. The results can be amazing. One of the best things about applying a facial mask is that it gives you 20 minutes of relaxation and most people nowadays just dont get enough of that. Clay masks do a wonderful job in cleaning out the pores around your nose that contribute to blackheads. The larger your pores are the more room there is to trap the oil. If you’re looking for a facial mask for oily skin, you must try Milk of Magnesia. This excellent product is just as the effective as the masks you find on shelves, and sometimes even better! Magnesium, which is found in the Milk of Magnesia, is a great disinfectant and absorbs facial oil. Any parts of exposed skin are candidates for masks. A lot of skin is exposed when you wear a swimsuit and this skin can benefit as well. If you have trouble with your back breaking out, a mask can be applied by giving the sponge to your significant other if he or she is handy, and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then step into the shower to rinse it off. It’s that simple! It’s a Hawaiian Luau Baby

June 19th, 2008 by vilaschou

By Gail Leino The summer is a perfect time to host a Luau. Regardless of your state of residence, you can have a Luau in your backyard. Hawaiian decorations will add to the ambience and make everyone think they are in a tropical place. A Luau is a perfect theme for a retirement, anniversary or birthday party because all ages enjoy them. A Luau needs some palm trees. Inflatable trees or supplies to make some are found at any party supply store. They can be placed around the backyard or inside the house in strategic locations. If the party will head into the evening and night hours, hang strand of mini white lights. The twinkling lights provide enough light to see and appear as more stars in the sky. Other decorations can include colorful flowers, streamers, balloons and pineapples. If you have a pool, place floating candles or live flowers inside to float. It provides a touch of elegance to the dcor. A party supply store will have all of the paper products needed to serve food. Luaus are known for having great food. If cooking for a large group appears to be a daunting task, ask everyone to bring a dish to pass. Make sure they know the theme and see what they can create to contribute to it. Hire someone to professionally roast a pig and use that as your main course. Take a picture of the pig with an apple in its mouth to use in your scrapbook. Games to play during a Luau include doing the limbo. The traditional game involves two people holding a pole while others dance under while the pole keeps getting closer to the ground. Other outdoor games can include horseshoes and volleyball. If you have an outgoing crowd, a hula contest may also be a fun idea. All About Soul Mates

June 15th, 2008 by vilaschou

By Barbara Rose, Ph.D. 1. How do I know when Ive met my Soul Mate? There will be an instantaneous familiarity, a recognition, and an innate understanding and connection from the beginning that cannot be described logically. You will be psychically attuned to each other, and will feel so alive in each others presence. Its as if when together, you feel more enhanced, alive, and excited! You can communicate on many levels at the same time, often tuning into each other and knowing what is going on with the other person. There will be a shared sense of purpose. A deep love, and a feeling of knowing each other on a soul level. It will feel as if you are with your true counterpart on every level. All of the feelings are mutual. There is a deep soul-level bond, and a deep feeling of having much in common on many levels. Physical passion can be extremely intense, or in some soul mate relationships, there is more of an intellectual stimulus, and many times it is both combined. There is chemistry, passion, electricity, and meaning. This is one relationship that will most likely be the most transformative one in your life, and one that you will always remember, no matter what happens. 2. If Ive really met my soul mate, why is the relationship so difficult? Soul Mate relationships are karmic. You have made a soul agreement to come into this life to meet again to uproot and transform each of your deepest healing and growth issues. Naturally, when anyone is faced with having to face and heal eons of negative patterns, there is going to be deep resistance on the ego level. It is vastly difficult to face what we really came into this life to heal. It will be your soul mate, or twin flame that will trigger your deepest growth issues to bring them up to the surface to be healed once and for all. Naturally when this happens, there is turbulence within the relationship, because there is inner turbulence within each person as they are facing their deepest issues to heal them. This is a deeply transformative process, and a deeply difficult one. However, once you each see that you are triggering growth within the other, and view it as the true gift that it is, then perhaps some of the resistance will dissipate. In reality, as long as either one or both of you RESIST your growth issues, and resist facing them down to heal them, there is going to be a great deal of difficulty due to this resistance. However, once the resistance stops, and you face what needs to be healed within, then all of that turbulence within the relationship also dissipates, because you are no longer fighting the river, but are going with the flow where your can truly soar once you stop fighting everything you know deep within your heart to be true. This requires a tremendous amount of self-honesty, and courage! The truth of this matter is that once each of you are true to yourselves, and are completely honest with Self, then the difficulties within the relationship will also be transformed. Being completely HONEST is the key, and that honesty MUST be to Self first, and then to the other. 3. Why is it that many soul mates dont stay together? In every case I have seen, it was FEAR of being true to Self, and displaying that truth to the other. One or both people refused to face what they needed to face to heal and grow. There were often issues stemming from ego that never made their way into the heart of the person. Ego can NEVER be the foundation of a relationship only TRUTH can. Truth is the ONLY thing that can sustain a relationship. If one person is avoiding their self-truth, then they are avoiding their growth agreement for this lifetime. It is for this reason that most soul mates do not stay together. The relationship must be completely genuine. Each person can make many mistakes, however, where there is a refusal to go within to the heart center, and be completely true and honest with Self about what you are feeling inside, how can ANY relationship flourish? So this is the primary reason as to why soul mates to not stay together. Spiritual law forbids that one stay with the other if either refuse to heal and grow, be honest, and fulfill their soul agreement. The agreement was made TO GROW! So when that is not happening, sadly both people must part. 4. How can I turn the dynamics of this relationship around for lasting happiness? The only way you can turn the dynamics around is when you turn YOURSELF around, and get REALLY HONEST. If you feel something, say it. If you have something that is upsetting you, discuss it! If you feel confused, scared, blocked, or lost, talk about it! Honest Communication is the KEY. You have to STOP ALL GAMES, manipulation, defenses, and be AUTHENTIC and genuine with yourself, and with the other person. Once you do this, and genuinely communicate what you are feeling, THEN you can have a chance to turn it all around for lasting happiness, and love. 5. Why do many soul mates continually return to each other? Because the love is REAL. It is true, and it NEVER dies. You can be apart for decades, and the love will still be deep inside, even if you are living a full life on the outside. True love IS eternal. Once youve met your match, you never forget the person. You can go on, and you can even be with other people, however, there will always be a special place in your heart for your soul mate. Many return to try to make it work out. Then the growth issues come up, which leads to turbulence within the relationship. Then they part, avoiding the growth lessons. Then they miss each other and return, after seeing that it wasnt all that terrible to begin with, it was just a growth process! If you find this happening in your life, take a look at whatever it is that you have been avoiding out of fear. Once you can get really honest with yourself about this, then you CAN be with someone that is your true match. Healing and honesty is required that is the ONLY way it can ever work out. 6. How can we break old negative patterns between us? You can only break the old negative patterns within YOURSELF. It is a BIG mistake to focus on the issues the other person has. This is avoiding self-growth completely. Face YOUR fears, issues, and ask yourself what you really want! What do you want in a relationship? Talk about it with the other person! What areas would you like to come to an agreement about? Talk about it with the other person! What have you been afraid of? Talk, talk, talk and COMMUNICATE! It takes conscious effort to make this profound relationship work! It is SO worth it, once you can come to an agreement based on honesty! That is the key to it all it is in daring to expose how you feel, what you want, and even saying if youre not sure its all okay as long as it is completely honest! Also see if there is a Higher reason why you chose to meet in this life. Is there something you can be teaming up to work on together? Do you share a common vision to make this world a better place? So MANY of the problems CAN be cleared up once you make a conscious effort to really connect and communicate HONESTLY! If you have a disagreement BIG DEAL! Everyone has disagreements! Just talk it over, and come to an agreement, share your views, and dont run away! So many times genuine communication can really clear up so much! THAT is why honest communication is the key! It is not to drag you down, it IS to lift you BOTH up to an authentic place where you CAN resolve things between you, as long as you dont run away, and really want to resolve them. You CAN break the negative patterns this way, and that is why this relationship entered your life so you can both heal, grow, and be authentic knowing that anything can be resolved you just have to want to come to a mutually agreeable resolution, and then, you can. 7. If were apart, and miss each other, what will it take to make it work? Time. Many times people are not ready to face their deepest issues at the same time others are. Sometimes certain issues really need YEARS to be worked through. It is a growth process not a one time event. Sometimes you may not get back together. That is something you have to come to terms with. You BOTH have to want to get together and make it work. All you can do is become your own highest and best. You cant wait for the other person. You MUST live your life to its fullest, in every area. Sometimes the time apart is the greatest gift! It can bring the truth up to the surface within each person, and if that truth means that you really do love each other, and want to be together, you can both make it happen. If the love is real, it never dies. Your life, however, is about really facing YOURSELF, and in that process, if you find that you do want to be together, life has a way of working it out. You have to express that desire, honestly. Trust that it all works out for the best. Live and become your highest and best. If it is meant to be that you do end up together, that truth WILL come out in the end. It always does. Be REAL with YOURSELF, that is the only way you can ever be real and make it work with the other person if/when you ever do reunite. Trust there IS a Higher reason for it all it is growth! Strawberries Anyone

May 29th, 2008 by vilaschou

By Shauna Hanus How do you feel about strawberries. I personally like them. They are a treat that we eat whole or sliced with drizzled honey. Did you know that the average strawberry has about 200 seeds on the outside. My kids always contemplate growing strawberries in their tummies after eating the seeds. A quick and easy way to hull out your strawberries is to insert a straw in the bottom of the berry and push it up through the stem. When you are buying strawberries from the grocery store look for ripe berries that are firm and dry. The green tips should be fresh, not wilted. Turn the box over and check that it is dry. If the bottom is moist or stained some of the berries may be overripe. To keep the berries fresh for the longest amount of time, do not wash them when you bring them home. Place them in the refrigerator and store until ready to use. Wash them when you take them out to serve, or cook with. Did you know that seven to eight medium sized strawberries makes a serving. In that serving you will have only about 22 calories. This could be one of the best kept fruit secrets of all time. If tradition does not dictate strawberry shortcake for dessert try these variations. Dipped in chocolate Chopped or dipped in your favorite yogurt Dipped in sour cream Dipped in whipped cream, homemade is preferable Dusted with a little confectioners sugar However you eat your strawberries enjoy them in the knowledge that they are healthy sweet treats. http://www.gourmayeats.com Shauna Hanus is a gourmet cook who specializes in creating gourmet meal plans. History of Medicine

May 26th, 2008 by vilaschou

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=M_Zuraimy] M Zuraimy Herbalism There is no actual record of when the use of plants for medicinal purposes first started, although the first generally accepted use of plants as healing agents were depicted in the cave paintings discovered in the Lascaux caves in France, which have been Radiocarbon dated to between 13,000 25,000 B.CE. Over time and with trial and error, a small base of knowledge was acquired within early tribal communities. As this knowledge base expanded over the generations, tribal culture developed into specialized areas. These specialized jobs became what are now known as healers or Shaman. Egyptian Medicine Medical information contained in the Edwin Smith Papyrus date as early as 3,000 B.C. The earliest surgery was performed in Egypt around 2,750 B.C. Imhotep in the 3rd dynasty is credited as the founder of ancient Egyptian medicine and as the original author of the Edwin Smith Papyrus, detailing cures, ailment and anatomical observations. The Edwin Smith Papyrus is regarded as a copy of several earlier works and was written circa 1,600 B.C as an ancient textbook on surgery and describes in exquisite detail in the examination, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of numerous ailment. Medical institutions are known to have established in ancient Egypt since as early as the 1st Dynasty. By the time of the 19th Dynasty their employees enjoyed such benefits as medical insurance, pensions, sick leave and worked eight hours per day. The earliest known physician is also credited to ancient Egypt: Hesrye, Chief of Dentists and Physician for King Djoser in the 27th century B.C. Also the earliest women physician, Peseshet, practiced in Ancient Egypt at the time of the 4th dynasty. Her title was Lady Overseer of the Lady Physicians. Indian Medicine Ayurveda (the science of living), the Vedic system of medicine originating over 3,000 years ago, views health as harmony between body, mind and spirit. Its two most famous text belong to the schools of Charaka and Sushruta. According to Charaka, health and disease are not predetermined and life may be prolonged by human effort. Sushruta defines the purpose of medicine to cure the diseases of the sick, protect the healthy and to prolong life. Ayurveda speaks of eight branches: kayachikitsa (internal medicine), shalyachikitsa (surgery including anatomy), shalakyachikitsa (eye, ear, nose and throat diseases), kaumarabhritya (pediatrics), bhutavidya (phychiatry or demonology), agada tantra (toxicology), rasayana (science of rejuvenation) and vajikarana ( the science of fertility). Before graduation, the student was to pass a test. But the physician was to continue to learn through texts, direct observation (pratyaksha) and through inference (anumana). In 2001, archeologists studying the remains of two men from Mehgarh, Pakistan, made the discovery that the people of Indus Valley Civilization, even from the early Harappan periods (circa 3,300 B.C), had knowledge of medicine and dentistry. The physical anthropologist who carried out the examinitions, Professor Andrea Cucina from the University of Missouri-Columbia, made the discovery when he was cleaning the teeth from one of the men. Chinese Medicine Chinese also developed a large body of traditional medicine. Much of the philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine derived from empirical observations of disease and illness by Taoist physicians and reflects the classical Chinese belief that individual human experiences express causative principles effective in the environment at all scales. During the golden age of his reign from 2,696 to 2,598 B.C, as a result of a dialogue with his minister, ChI Pai, the Yellow Emperor is supposed by Chinese tradition to have composed his Neijing Suwen or Basic Questions of Internal Medicine. During the Han dynasty, Chang Chung-Ching, who was mayor of Chang-sha near the end of the second century A.D, wrote a Treatise on Typhoid Fever, which contains the earliest known reference to Neijing Suwen. The Chin dynasty practitioner and advocate of acupuncture and moxibustion, Huang-fu Mi (215-282 A.D), also quotes the Yellow Emperor in his Chia I Ching, 265 A.D. During the Tang dynasty, Wang Ping claimed to have located a copy of the originals of the Neijing Suwen, which he expanded and edited substancially. Early European Medicine Astrology played a very important part in early Western medicine; most university-educated physicians were trained in at least the basics of astrology to use in their practice. As societies developed in Europe and Asia, belief systems were replaced with a different natural system. The Greeks, from Hyppocrates, developed a humoral medicine system where treatment was to restore the balance of humours within the body. Ancient Medicine is a treatise on medicine, written roughly 400 B.C by Hyppocrates. Medieval medicine was an evolving mixture of the scientific and the spiritual. In the early middle ages, following the fall off the Roman Empire, standard medical knowledge was based chiefly upon surviving Greek and Roman texts, preserved in monasteries and elsewhere. Islamic Medicine The Islamic World rose to primacy in medical science with such thinkers as Ibn Sina (Avicenna), Ibn Nafis and Rhazes. The first generation of Persian superb physicians were trained at the Academy of Gundishapur, where the teaching hospital was the first invented. The Comprehensive Book of Medicine (Large Comprehensive, Hawi or al-Hawi or The Continence) was written by the Iranian chemist Rhazes (known also as Razi), the Large Comprehensive was the most sought after of all his compositions. The Kitab fi al-jadari wa-al-hasbah by Rhazes, with its introduction on measles and smallpox was also very influential in Europe. The Mutazilite philosopher and doctor Ibn Sina was another influential figure. His The Canon of Medicine, sometimes considered the most famous book in the history of medicine, remained a standard text in Europe up until its Age of Enlightenment and the renewal of the Islamic tradition of scientific medicine. Ibn Nafis described human blood circulation. This discovery would be rediscovered or perhaps merely demonstrated, by William Harvey in 1628, who generally receives the credit in Western history. Modern Medicine Medicine was revolutionized in the 18th century and beyond by advances in chemistry and laboratory techniques and equipment, old ideas of infectious disease epidemiology were replaced with bacteriology. Ignaz Semmelweis in 1847 dramatically reduced the death rate of new mothers from childbed fever by the simple experiment of requiring physicians to wash their hands before attending to women in childbirth. His discovery predated the germ theory of disease. However, his discoveries were not appreciated by his contemporaries and came into use only with discoveries of British surgeon Joseph Lister, who in 1865 proved the principles of antiseptic. His work is based on the very important discoveries made by French biologist Louis Pasteur who was able to link some microorganisms with disease. This brought a revolution in medicine. He also devised one of the most important methods in preventive medicine, when in 1880 he produced the vaccine against rabies. Pasteur also invented the process of pasteurization to help prevent the spread of disease through milk and other foods, whom its named after. Also Pasteur was an individual worker, an unlike his contemporary Robert Koch, regardless, Pasteur was a man who thought laterally and his vaccination for Rabies, was indeed a milestone, but no one still understood in the 1880s the mechanisms for such immunity. The role of womankind was increasingly founded by the likes of Elizabeth Blackwell, Elizabeth Garret, Florence Nightingale, etc. They showed a previously a male dominated profession, the elemental role of nursing in lessening the aggravation of patient mortality, resulting from lack of hygiene and nutrition. Nightingale, set up the St Thomas hospital, post-Crimea, in 1852. Robert Koch is considered one of the founders of bacteriology. He is famous for the discovery of the tubercle bacillus (1883) and for his development of Kochs postulates. It was not until the 20th century that there was a true breakthrough in medicine, with great advances in pharmacology and surgery. For the great war spurred the usage of Rontgens X-ray and the electrocardiograph, for the monitoring of internal bodily problems. However, this was overshadowed by the remarkable mass production of penicillium antibiotic, which was a result of government and public pressure. The antibiotic prevented the deaths of thousands during the conquest of Vichy France in 1944. The 20th century witnessed a shift from a master-apprentice paradigm of teaching of clinical medicine to a more democratic system of medical schools. Tracking Unsecured Loans

May 17th, 2008 by vilaschou

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Steve_C_Clark]Steve C Clark How can I? This has been my childhood dream. Grapes are sour. In this fast-paced society, these frustrating words are gradually loosing its spine. The word impossible is itself suggesting, I am possible. Want to buy a car? Want to bear the high cost education for your child? Want to clear the so-called small bills? But how? It could be quite unmanageable if you do not have the collateral to secure loans. Here comes, unsecured loans as savior. This is the most popular form of loans. You can always find a suitable lender, who can loan the substantial amount for your needs, certainly without a collateral. Unsecured loan seekers have to fulfill certain conditions before coming to terms with the lender. Though, unsecured loan require no collateral, it certainly looks into your credit report, which means you should have a certain credit score. A good credit score means the lender is optimistic towards you. This is always possible if you had been clearing your smaller debts honestly. Of course, the lender would also not like to be at risk. Since no collateral is required, unsecured personal loans provided to you are restricted. The interest rates are also higher as compared to secured loans. This varies between 7% to 25%. It is always possible to procure a loan amount of higher range, depending on your credit score. Most lenders offering unsecured loans would always like to minimize their risk. Consequently, the loan term is shorter. But, this should not be a matter of worry because we normally take the loan for a shorter period of time. Nobody loves to carry burden on his shoulders for long. It is the common humane approach. Individuals having big dreams but less risk capabilities would always find unsecured loans a tough nut to crack. Obviously, a person who has lived with the emotional highs of his ancestral home would not like to part away with it as collateral, as misfortune in terms of failure in repayment can lead to its confiscation. Unsecured loans with its shorter loan amount and shorter loan term as compared to secured loans are still a brighter option. Smoother loan repayment conditions are always easier to meet, as there are narrow chances of failure, if honest and hardworking. So, we should cheer up. Let not our dreams go into oblivion for want of collateral. A fair amount of research on different websites offering unsecured loans can land you with a fair deal. Betta Fish - What’s So Fascinating About It?

May 14th, 2008 by vilaschou

By Rose Mary The betta fish is one of the most fascinating fish of all tropical fishes. This special fish has enchanted many fish enthusiasts and has become one of their favorite choices for freshwater fish keeping. The betta fish is available in a great variety of colors, patterns and styles. It can survive well in small water spaces and requires only minimal effort for its maintenance. The betta fish has many wonderful characteristics. Its body is streamlined which helps it to slip easily through water. Besides, its tapered body shape reduces water friction. Hence, it does not require much effort to move forward. The bettas body is slightly flattened which is commonly found in fishes staying in stagnant or slow-moving waters in their natural habitat. The betta has external gills which can extract oxygen from the water. As it belongs to the family of labyrinth fishes, it also has the ability to breathe atmospheric air. The bettas body is covered with scales which are thin, transparent plates overlapping one another. The functions of these scales are to protect the bettas body from injury and enable it to glide more efficiently. There is a mucus layer covering the scales which helps to provide better smoothness as well as protect the betta from parasites. The bettas fins are used for maintaining balance and turning around in various directions. The betta has a gas-filled swim bladder which functions as a floating device. The swim bladder helps to keep the betta from sinking. As the bettas mouth is upturned, it is considered a top feeder. Hence, while feeding the betta, you can just simply drop some floating food on the surface of the water and it will scoop the food up. Betta fishes can be found in the waters of Thailand. They are mainly found in places such as shallow rice paddies, polluted rivers and stagnant pools. These fishes tend to prefer living in areas where the water contains low oxygen levels. Due to commercial selective breeding, the variety of colors, patterns and styles of the betta fish has increased tremendously. There are now more choices for people to select the type they want. For those who are trying to keep the betta fish to beautify their home, they can have a better chance of finding one that matches the color scheme of their room. One advantage of keeping bettas is that it can be kept in small glass or plastic containers which may prove unsuitable for other kinds of tropical fishes. It is known that bettas thrive better in small spaces than goldfish. Goldfish often suffers oxygen deficiency when being kept in small water spaces. Betta fishes will not suffer such a deficiency because, being a labyrinth fish, it can come to the surface of the water to breathe air. Hence, goldfish bowls, jars, tumblers and plastic containers are commonly used by fish hobbyists to rear betta fishes. Furthermore, betta fishes require only minimum maintenance to keep them in good health. They just need to be fed with proper food regularly and be kept in clean water. The betta is an amazing fish and keeping it can enhance your life. You can keep it as a pet as well as use it to beautify your home environment. Besides, it is easy to keep the betta and hence, does not require a lot of your time. Furthermore, with a great variety of types available, you will certainly be able to find one you like. If you intend to keep fishes as your hobby or are considering adding more fishes to your collection, you can consider getting the betta fish. As a start, you can read about this fish to learn more about it. Visit Betta Fish for more information. Herbert W Armstrong and Worldwide Church of God Mentioned in Israeli Newspaper

May 9th, 2008 by vilaschou

By David Ben-Ariel You could say I have a God-given love for the Jews and the nation of Israel (Isaiah 62:6-7). That sacred bond has been strengthened over the years by the fact that I’ve been blessed to have lived all over Israel, getting to know its land and people quite well. Apart from 5 months as a kibbutz volunteer at Ramat Yohanan near Haifa, I’ve also served as a kibbutz volunteer at Sdot Yam on the Mediterranean, next to Caesarea, the site of my first ulpan (intensive Hebrew course), and where Israel’s heroine, Hannah Senesh, was from; Regavim, near Zichron Yaakov, where I continued my Hebrew lessons amid its rolling green hills; Reshafim, near Bet She’an, with Mt. Gilboa practically in our backyard, and Jordan’s mountains in lovely view out front; Adamit, on Lebanon’s border, high up on a mountain, from where on clear days you can see all the way to Haifa’s Mt. Carmel; Shoval, a rose in the Negev desert, just north of Be’er Sheva; Dan, way up in the northernmost part of Israel, in between Syria and Lebanon, next to the majestic snow-covered Mt. Hermon, where I was living when “Operation Desert Storm” blew in; and Ha’On, with its campground and ostrich farm on the eastern shores of the Sea of Galilee, across from Tiberias; and last but not least, my beloved Jerusalem, next to my favorite spot on earth: the Temple Mount. It was during my sojourn at Kibbutz Ramat Yohanan, while looking for the home of the widow Simcha Gombo, a Worldwide Church of God member and mother of Michal (who was deaf) - both of whom I had briefly met during the 1980 Church of God celebration of the biblical Festival of Tabernacles in Jerusalem - that I met Ilan Itzhayek on the street and asked directions, as related in Israel Work History (Worldwide Church of God). Ilan Itzhayek wrote the following full page article in Hebrew that appeared in Hed HaKiryot, a newspaper in Northern Israel, just West of the Sea of Galilee, November 19, 1982. Please note that David Hoover is the name I was born with before I legally changed it to David Ben-Ariel, and forgive the imperfect translation of the Hebrew into English in this attempt to preserve a part of the Church of God history in the Promised Land (and honor Ilan Itzhayek for helping to make it). The Drug Addict Who Discovered God and the Kibbutz by Ilan Itzhayek His name is David Allen Hoover - he’s 22 years old and was born in Toledo, Ohio, USA. David, and other members of the Church he belongs to arrived in Israel last month as visitors in Jerusalem, but David stayed behind as a volunteer at Kibbutz Ramat Yohanan. He doesn’t mind any of the work they give him to do - whether it’s in the fields, in the factory or in the chicken incubators - he has ideals. David belongs to a very special Church called the Worldwide Church of God - they call themselves the true Christians and consider the conventional Christians pagan. They believe in the Torah of Moses and observe Sabbath, as well as all the annual holy days mentioned in the Torah. They believe Jesus Christ is the Messenger of God. The Church has 100,000 brethren all over the world. A common belief they have is that they have been chosen by God to join the community of believers. Their leader is Herbert Armstrong, 91, whom they admire and consider that he’s come in the spirit of Elijah. David talks quite excitedly about his Church. He’s very patient and ready to explain his convictions to you again if you haven’t understood them. His answers are filled with verses from the Bible and the New Testament - verses that he knows by heart. He calls himself “chosen” because in his Church there isn’t those “religious and not religious” - there’s only the chosen. If you don’t agree the Church doesn’t want you - which means that God hasn’t called you. Scar in the Heart David hasn’t always been in the Church. He was raised on a farm in Ohio that belongs to his father’s family. His parents were divorced when he was 11 years old. A year later his alcoholic father died at the early age of 36. “All I remember about my father,” David says with a sort of bitter smile, “is that he was drunk and always messing up the house and arguing with my mom. He was always arguing with her. I was really young then so I really didn’t even get to know him. I almost can’t remember how he looks.” It was a drastic change - his parents divorced, the move from the farm to the city, a new school and then his father’s death that deeply affected him. Soon, with all of his being, David began to search for a way to help him with his hurt. That’s when someone mentioned to him how you feel “high” when you do drugs. So he began to really look for drugs. He tried to find out who used them and where they hung out. Shortly after trying pills, pot and hash, he began to buy them regularly. “When I was 15 years old I stopped taking them by the mouth and started snorting them” - quickly adding ‘ “it’s far more potent that way and it affects you more quickly…money to buy drugs with wasn’t a problem for me. It wasn’t hard to get. The man my mom had remarried wasn’t rich, but he definitely wasn’t poor. The allowances I got I used to buy drugs with instead of clothes or other things. My sister and I kept it secret that we were getting high and so our parents kept giving us good allowances.” It seems like David will never forget a Jethro Tull rock concert that he attended. “I had snorted some drugs, smoked a lot of pot and hash and was drinking beer until I was really high.” He remembers, “I felt really strange. All I remember is being sat down by some friends and the chair began to fall backwards…3 days later I woke up in the intensive care unit of the hospital with a heart monitor attached to me. I was in serious condition and it had been getting worse but the doctors worked hard to save me.” “Later there was a special agreement between me and my parents,” David grins. “I was promised that if I quit taking drugs they’d allow me to let my hair grow long. I promised and I didn’t keep it. My hair grew down to my waist.” Wanderings and its Moral A different stage began in David’s life: wandering through different churches. He was in and out of many churches during his search for the true morals and values. He considered the members of traditional Christianity as hypocrites. Those churches had failed to fulfill him. After failing to find what he was searching for, David came in contact with Hinduism - the Hare Krishnas. He was attracted by its exotic appeal, the incense and vegetarian members of that cult. During a special Krishna festival in Philadelphia, he met a famous leader in their movement who wanted him to become his personal aide and travel all over. David decided not to join because he didn’t want to be separated from his family. “I believed in Hare Krishna,” David says assured, “I loved the religion because it was physically and spiritually attractive and I was devoted to it. I engaged in their ceremonies, singing and dancing, chanting their mantras and going into a group trance. But even though I knew their religion didn’t accept drugs, I still used them, though they were unaware of it. I was around 17 when I began to shoot up drugs.” After awhile David began to seriously question his involvement with the Krishnas. He feared he had been wrong, had been misled in going to the guru. His amount and use of drugs began to dramatically increase, going to the bars every night of the week, getting high and drunk, began to take its toll on his body. By then it seems he had lost any spiritual strength he had. “God Help Me” “I really began to think about God,” he says. “Suddenly I began to think about him seriously and wondered if I had been deceived or enlightened in Krishna. I begged God to lead me into all the truth. I had prayed about it many times and then one of the greatest miracles in my life happened” - he explains while getting down on his knees to show how he had been praying. “All I remember is that I was purposely praying to the God of the Bible and really hoped that somehow He would answer my prayer. Then it was like a hot brand was put upon my forehead. Two words were forcibly impressed upon my mind: “FORSAKE HINDUISM!” Then I actually wondered whether it was my subconscious that gave me those words. I turned to my Bible that was beside me and, unintentionally, opened it up to Psalms 115:4-8 - David’s holding his Bible and reading it out loud: “Their idols are silver and gold; the work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; They have ears, but they hear not; noses have they, but they smell not; They have hands, but they handle not; feet have they, but they walk not; neither speak they through their throat. They that make them are like them; so is every one that trusts in them.” “After that I didn’t need any further proof to know that it had truly been from God. That same day I burned all my Hindu books, beads, posters…”. “Dirty needles” The drugs caused David’s condition to continually deteriorate. Everyone told him that he was destroying himself. He knew himself that he was going to die, but he wasn’t able to help himself. “All that horrible time” - David says with a shaky voice - “I really wanted to be free. I didn’t want to be addicted to drugs. But I also felt that there wasn’t anything in this world worth living for. I didn’t have any power but I still tried to get off drugs. I ended up throwing away my needles, hoping to stop, but later I’d turn around and go back and take them out and use them.” Even though his needles had been in the garbage, dirty and broken, he said he still used them up to a dozen times, even though you’re only supposed to use them once! “I was taking the needles in my frustration and would bash them against the wall so that I couldn’t use them, but later I’d attempt to until it hurt me and I was bleeding. That’s when I realized that I was addicted.” David says, thinking out loud: “All I knew was that only GOD could help me, not man!” David experienced “almost sure death” another time, besides the rock concert, when he was 18, and was in his bedroom mainlining some drugs. His mother was home at the time but was unaware of what was happening to her son. “Suddenly everything seemed strange to me” - David says trying to remember - “the music started sounding really weird…Later I woke up in the hospital and a doctor informed me that I had damaged my liver and that it was a miracle that I still had a brain and could think clearly.” Goodbye and Good Riddance “Those were my times of wandering in the wilderness. God delivered me and took me out of Egypt into His light” - David says reflecting on his past. “The inner struggle between good and evil wearied me after awhile. I had been asking God what I was supposed to do. I asked for power because I didn’t have any strength and none of the churches I encountered had the power necessary to deliver me from drugs. At the time I opened up my Bible unintentionally to Isaiah 45. The first verse that caught my eye was verse 2: “I will go before thee and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron…”. That verse succeeded to do for David what he, of himself, had been unable to do for years. “No more drugs!” David said and that is how he finally managed to be free from drugs. “Now I felt ready to begin to listen to God. Sometimes you have to first live in darkness before you can appreciate the light. I knew I wanted to live God’s ways of life so I said good-riddance to drugs and to my old friends and bad influences - to all of that I said goodbye and good riddance!” “Drugs are a Lie” Shortly afterwards, David discovered the Worldwide Church of God through their Plain Truth magazine. The ideas in it seemed so logical to him and not like all the others he had known. Soon David was one of its excited believers. After a whole year of observing Sabbath and all the holy days of Israel, he was baptized as a brother into the Church. One of the Worldwide Church of God beliefs is that there will be a politico-military mess that will take place by next year. In their opinion, Germany, and maybe even Italy, will attempt to conquer the world. That attempt will ignite a world war that will take two thirds of the world’s population, but that afterwards there will begin a true peace for planet Earth. The members of the Worldwide Church of God will be among those that survive and they believe that eventually their beliefs will be accepted by all the Earth. The doctrines of the Church are all biblically based. Besides the above-mentioned prophecy there is another one that states the world leaders will sit in Jerusalem and that Israel will become a “Light to all nations.” The whole world will have one government. David is writing a book, from his biblical research, about the two prophets who will prepare the way for the days to come. David is also contemplating about writing an autobiography. He already knows what he would call it - Wanderings! He’s convinced that he has a lot of experience to give to others, and he’s very interested in warning those who might consider abusing drugs. “Drugs are a lie” - he says - “and it would be a lot better if people would learn form the experience of others. Today I’m alive, very alive - and I feel I have a lot to live for!” David Ben-Ariel is a Christian-Zionist writer and author of Beyond Babylon: Europe’s Rise and Fall. In The Beginning Christ!

May 4th, 2008 by vilaschou

By Daryl Frisbee As I was doing my studies, the Lord put something on my heart that really took me by surprise. He dropped a little bit of revelation knowledge into my mind, and it took me on a great ride. In this Newsletter, I want to share with you what the Lord has showed me. In no way is this a complete study of this subject, yet I do believe that this is a core teaching on the subject, and that the understanding of Christ is deeper then most believe. Lets open this study with Hebrews: 1:1-2: God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, [2] in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. The part that we wont to look at is in verse 2 He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. As I was reading this the Lord dropped in my thought that as I said early really shook me. That according to Hebrews, God made the whole world through Jesus. Now thats not that big of a thought, but when God showed me this in the bible that is what God me excited. I believe we all can in a way comprehend this, but what I couldnt comprehend is how this is done. At least according to my time framed thinking. See as I seen it, Jesus was alive about 2000 years ago. So how did he create the whole world? Even with thinking out side of the box, in the spiritual realm I still had trouble. If Jesus was in his spirit form, then he already excited long before 2000 years ago. So how could he of been created on earth? So I always took Hebrews, 1:1-2 as absolute truth, but never really took any serious thought about it. Taking Hebrews 1:1-2 into consideration, lets look at John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. [4] In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. Here we have a similar scripture as Hebrews but this time we have a little bit more information to the mix. Now we see that the Word was with God, and the Word was God. No doubt that this is Jesus. So Jesus was the Word of God, and created all things. Now we are getting some where, I can see that. But still there is one more thing that it says about Jesus. That In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness. Jesus was the Light that all things were created in. according to Hebrews 1:1-2 and John 1: 1-5. On a spiritual side this is absolutely easy to understand, but how about the physical? This is still the problem with me; Jesus in the spiritual is easy for me to understand, but not the physical, where in the bible does it say that he was ever a physical light and created things? Until the Lord dropped this into me, this is as far as I could get on this subject. They were no real proof of this. Well lets take a look at Genesis 1:1-5 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. [2] And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. [3] Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. [4] And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. [5] And God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. This is the answer to Hebrews, and John. Gen 1; 3 Then God said Let there be light I know what you are thinking, Brother Daryl, this was the sunshine. Well thats what I had thoughts for years, and in fact I really didnt even question that scripture at all. But when was the sun and moon created? Genesis 1:16-19 And God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. [17] And God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, [18] and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. [19] And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. On day 4, the sun and moon was created. So this means that there was a God given light for the first few days, and it never says that this light has gone away. In fact, Hebrews 1:3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high; We see that Jesus is upholding all things by the word of His power. It is the light of Genesis that we see Jesus in the physical creating all things. In the Light of Jesus all things were created, and in the light of Jesus he is upholding all things today. Not only do we see this light of Jesus in Creation but we also see it in the book of Revelations: Rev. 22:5 And there shall no longer be any night; and they shall not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God shall illumine them; and they shall reign forever and ever. O Glory to God, how awesome is this. To actually see a scripture come to life. It took a movement of God to show me, but thank God he did. Please, I beg you to study this yourself, and you will see Jesus in his awesome presence in every aspect of God. Remember Jesus is the outshining of God. We could say it like this. The sunlight is the brightness of the Sun; the light that it gives shows its wonder and power. So is the light of the Son, showing Gods glory in his light.
